The repeated attempt of relativistic and utilitarian sociological agendas to degrade the early human embryo to the status of a mere biological appendage of the mother or a conglomerate of cells devoid of individual identity is pulverized by the empirical demonstration of sovereign morphogenic self-direction. As this rigorous research documents in the journal Nature, the human zygote possesses within itself, from the first fusion of the gametes, all the information and operational force to conduct its own ontological deployment without a break in continuity. The discovery that structural polarity and early embryonic architecture depend on gene transcriptions self-governed by the embryo itself constitutes a spectacular ratification of the Aristotelian-Thomistic doctrine of act and potency. The zygote is not an amorphous power waiting to receive from the outside a "vital principle" or a late legal personality; It is a biological individual in the act of being, whose intrinsic formal cause teleologically directs cellular differentiation towards the consummation of the mature organism.
